- Payment forms accepted
Cash, check, money order, debit or credit card, PayPal (you can make payments here), your "flex pay" or "cafeteria plan" card (which works like a debit/credit card). Third-party reimbursement (insurance) as follows:
Third-Party Reimbursement & Insurance
Insurance policy: Read why we generally don't accept insurance. Also, how you may still be able to use your insurance in some instances...
What is third-party reimbursement?
This means that a third-party, such as your health insurance plan, reimburses you for healthcare costs. Some health insurances cover the services of a licensed marriage and family therapist and some do not.
Another third-party payer may be a family member or clergy member who has agreed to cover your costs for services. A simple agreement with said person is usually sufficient to bill them for the services.
How can I find out if my plan covers your services?
Look on your statement of benefits which lists the services that your plan will pay for. Your employer or insurance plan should provide you with this document. Note the amounts and conditions, if any, that apply to therapists, counselors, psychotherapists or licensed marriage and family therapists. Some plans have an annual limit on what they will cover and will keep reimbursing you until you reach that limit. Other plans stipulate that they will pay only a portion of each session. If you are in doubt, call your insurance company to clarify.
How does it work?
I collect payment up front and provide you with a receipt that you can submit to your insurance plan for reimubursement. It is your responsibility to seek reimbursement with the understanding that some plans will and some plans won't reimburse. Usually, you'll need to submit a claim form as well. You should be able to obtain the appropriate claim forms from your employer, or directly from the insurance company. After processing the forms, some plans send your reimbursement check to you in the mail while others deposit it directly into your account.
